Places You Need to Visit in Docklands

There is one very beautiful area in London, called Docklands. The docks used to be part of the Port of London which once was the largest port in the world. As the time passed by the region became a major financial centre where you can see some of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom and the most luxurious hotels in Docklands.

One of the places you definitely have to visit is the Museum in Docklands which is part of the Museum of London. You can learn the history of the River Thames and the city itself there. The museum tells a lot about the first invaders of the region and their life. It was opened in 2003 and today there is a lecture theatre where you can hear the stories of some of the dock workers.

Near the museum is situated the second most important business centre in London – Canary Wharf. Most of the buildings there were finished in 1991 including the second tallest building in the United Kingdom – One Canada Square. With its 230m, the construction has been the tallest one until 2010. The skyscraper has a pyramid roof with a flashing aircraft warning light but it's more interesting that the roof is the place where the window-washing machines are stored.

Canary Wharf is a place you really need to visit together with one of the most luxurious Docklands hotel. This is the time to enjoy one remarkable holiday.
