Places to Visit in the Vatican City

There is a small piece of land within the capital of Italy which attracts many tourists every year with its interesting historical sights. This is the sovereign Vatican city, where you can find the wonderful St. Peter's Basilica and the popular Vatican Museums. And it is even greater that there are some of the most luxurious Rome hotels nearby.

When you go to Rome, do not miss to visit the St. Peter's Basilica. It is a late Renaissance church located in the heart of the Vatican city. Its interior is the largest in the world and a legend tells the story that St. Peter's tomb is right below the basilica's altar. There is also a wrong statement that the church is actually a cathedral and that it is a bishop's seat.

Another very interesting place to visit are the Vatican Museums. Also inside the Vatican city, they receive more than 4 million tourists every year. The museums were founded by Pope Julius II in 16th century and there are displayed the greatest classical sculptures and masterpieces. You definitely should visit the Sala Rotonda, the Gallery of the Statues and the Cabinet of the Masks.

I will give you an advice to stay more than just a couple of days in Rome. It is a place full of beautiful sites and historical buildings. All you have to do is to book a room in one of the luxurious hotels in Rome and to enjoy your vacation.
